Our goal at Penokee Mountain Cooperative School is to give children an opportunity to experience the benefits of group activities in a safe and caring environment while giving parents social support and networking opportunities. We are committed to maintaining a cheerful, pleasant environment in which all children and adults feel welcomed, respected, and valued.

What Is Penokee Mountain Cooperative School?

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) secular homeschool support group in the Chequamegon Bay area. We are used as a supplement to your homeschooling practice. We meet once a week, currently on Fridays, to give children the opportunity of fun group activities. For our meetups, we bounce around between Ashland, Washburn, Bayfield, Cable, WI, Duluth, MN and many other areas around the Chequamegon Bay.

How Much Is Membership?

Membership is $50 per family for the 25/26 school year and volunteering for at least one fundraising event. This fee covers supplies for lessons and poetry tea time parties, free admission for guest speakers and the dance/pizza party and discounted tickets for Sky Zone.

Is Membership Required?

Membership is not required to be apart of Penokee Mountain Cooperative School. All are welcome! If we are doing activities that require money from the Cooperative, there will be a member and nonmember rate listed under the event.

What If I Cannot Afford The Membership Fee?

We are more than willing to work with families that may not be able to afford the membership. Please email penokeehomeschoolcoop@gmail.com to inquire about how we can work together to figure out a solution. 

Where Can I Find The Schedule?

We respect the privacy of the children and families involved in Penokee Mountain Cooperative School, so we do not post the monthly schedule on our website. We do post it in our private Facebook group (Penokee Mountain Cooperative), within the private Telegram chat and by request through email (penokeehomeschoolcoop@gmail.com).

Do I Need To Attend Every Friday?

No! We are a casual group that does not expect much for attendance. To be honest, most of us are late to the meetups. We really thrive at being a casual laid back group. If you have committed yourself or your child[ren] to help with a lesson or fundraising event, we do ask that you let us know if you cannot attend due to changed plans. Otherwise, hang out with us as it fits into your schedule! You and your family are welcome anytime!
